The True Church
True Jesus Church believes that it was established by the Lord Jesus Christ through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the last days, the “latter rain”, to restore the true church of the apostles’ time.

In the Bible, the church is not a building. It is the people God has called and saved, the body of Christ. The Bible says there is “one body, and one Spirit… One Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4:4-5). Since Christ has only one body, True Jesus Church believes there is one true church, known by the gospel the apostles preached and by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible often pictures the Holy Spirit as rain. Israel’s farmers relied on two rainy seasons, the former rain and the latter rain (Joel 2:23). We understand the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost, when the apostolic church began, as the former rain. In the centuries after the apostles, the church gradually moved away from their teaching. Before Christ returns, God would pour out His Spirit again. This is the latter rain.
True Jesus Church began in 1917, when the Holy Spirit revealed the truth of the Bible to Christians who were seeking it, and led them to preach the full gospel again: baptism in the name of Jesus, receiving the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues, footwashing, Holy Communion and the Sabbath. The name says whose church it is. “True” points to the true God, and Jesus is the name in which we are saved and gathered.
We know this claim can sound proud, and we do not make it to condemn anyone. We simply invite people to compare what we teach with the Bible for themselves, as the people of Berea “searched the scriptures daily” (Acts 17:11). Our church in Bandar Mahkota Cheras is one of many True Jesus Church congregations in Malaysia and around the world, all holding the same faith.
Common questions
Are you saying all other churches are false?
We do not say it to condemn anyone. “True” in our name refers to the true God, to whom the church belongs. We believe the true church is known by teaching the full gospel of the apostles and by having the Holy Spirit with it, and we invite everyone to test this against the Bible.
Do I have to become a member to attend a service?
No. Everyone is welcome at our services, and you can come simply to listen and learn. Baptism and membership come later, only when a person understands the faith and decides to believe.
