The Second Coming

True Jesus Church believes that the Lord Jesus will return from heaven on the last day to judge the world, when the righteous will receive eternal life and the wicked will receive eternal punishment.

The article of faith
The Lord’s Second Coming will take place on the last day when He descends from heaven to judge the world: the righteous will receive eternal life, while the wicked will be eternally condemned.

信主耶稣必于世界末日从天降临,审判万民。义人得永生,罪人受永刑。

Before He left His disciples, Jesus promised, “I will come again, and receive you unto myself” (John 14:3). When He ascended, angels told the disciples that this same Jesus would come back in the same way they had seen Him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). His first coming was in humility, to die for our sins. His second coming will be in glory, as King and Judge.

On that day the dead will be raised. Those who belong to Christ will be changed and caught up to meet the Lord, and all people will stand before Him to be judged by what they have done. Jesus said that “they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation” (John 5:29). The Bible is clear that the outcome is eternal (Matthew 25:46).

No one knows the day or the hour. Jesus said it will come suddenly, while people are busy eating and drinking, buying and building, just as in the days of Noah. He also spoke of signs before His return, such as wars, famines and earthquakes. Peter explains why God waits: He is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

For us at BMC, this hope is not about fear or guessing dates. It shapes how we live now: watching and praying, loving one another, serving faithfully and sharing the gospel while there is time. We look forward to that day, and we would be glad for you to learn about it with us.

Common questions

Do you know when Jesus will return?

No. Jesus said that no one knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36). We do not set dates. Instead, the Bible tells us to watch, pray and be ready at all times.

What happens to people who have already died?

They will be raised when Christ returns. Those who died in Christ will rise first to meet the Lord, and all people will stand before His judgement (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; John 5:28-29).
